Tia Lambert

Tia Lambert

I’ve lived at the foot of the Malvern Hills since moving from London in 1985, and have been painting the ever-changing colours, light, and moods ever since.

My training at the Royal Academy Schools began with a year of intensive life drawing—an invaluable foundation in observation and form. While I initially focused on still life in oils, my practice now encompasses a range of media, including ink, watercolour, oil, charcoal, and screen print.

I love painting outdoors in ink and watercolour, often drawing natural forms like hogweed and teasels using dip pens, reeds, brushes, or anything that can hold a point. These calligraphic marks, combined with flowing washes, aim to capture the feeling of being in the open air.

Oil painting allows me to explore bold, vibrant colour in both landscapes and still life, which I see as a kind of miniature landscape. I often use a palette knife for both mark-making and applying colour.

In screen printing, I layer ink drawings with bold acrylic stencils, enjoying the endless possibilities of pattern, texture, and colour. Charcoal, with its painterly quality and tonal range, offers a dynamic way to explore depth and atmosphere.
We stock Tia's original artworks, prints and cards.
