fluid acrylics

About Alison Simons

Before founding Aetheria Gallery and Studio, Alison Simons spent many years working as a neurophysiologist within the NHS. Yet throughout her scientific career, she felt a deep need for creative expression. When she discovered fluid acrylics, it felt like coming home.

Her scientific training supports the technical demands of fluid acrylic art, where careful preparation and precision play a critical role in crafting the flowing effects that define her work. Alison combines the spontaneity of poured paint with detailed brushwork, often incorporating metallics and iridescent tones, finished with a high-gloss varnish or resin to enhance depth and vibrancy.

Her work draws on themes of nature, fantasy, and light, blending abstract and realism. Through her art, Alison shares the mindfulness and joy that creativity brings, inviting viewers into a world of colour and wonder.
